That's a trick question. I AM the real Mat. I've just realised today that I have changed my habits a bit, and I am almost (not quite, but almost), ready to call myself a runner. So far in April, I have been out for a run eight times, with distances between 3.5 and 5K, and in just over a week, I will be entering my first ever 10K race.

Yes, for me it will mainly be a race against my own head, there will be no new world records set by me on May 5th. However, I will set a PB. And I will beat my brain into submission when it says "Right, that's enough, tubby. Time to walk". Like the saying goes, it doesn't matter how slow you go, as long as you don't stop.

Bloody nora, I'm starting to sound like a motivational speaker or something. Apparently I have reached the stage of exercise where you get that endorphin high afterwards, and I seem to have forgotten that I am a system administrator, who works in a dungeon-like basement, and should have a disgustingly cynical persona ;-)
